Derrick Chen
2022 VEX Middle School World Champion
Program Founder | Class Instructor | Competition Coach | VEX EDR 2022 Middle School World Champion & Division Champion | 2023 World High School Division Champion
Derrick is currently a senior at Beckman High School, and he has a passion for robotics and engineering. He created the entire curriculum for the class, utilizing his 7 years of VEX Robotics Competition experience on the school team, having qualified 6 times for the VEX EDR World Championship, and was crowned the 2022 Middle School World Champion. He has also served many years as robotics mentor and intern to the Tustin Unified School District. Here at Tzu Chi Robotics, he hopes to elevate that expertise to the next level, and provide engineering and STEM education for all those that seek it, especially those from underserved communities.

Of course, it would have been impossible to operate this course without the help of the generous personnel at Tzu Chi Academy Irvine who sacrificed their personal time to organize a time and place to allow us to run this class. This staff page would simply have been incomplete without their representation, so we at Tzu Chi Robotics would just like to give a collective "thank you!"
